Victims
Most victims of elder abuse are older adults above 65 years old. Some of them might be mentally or physically disable that need constant care, and some might be the opposite; but they are all vulnerable to be the victim of elder abuse. When these victims are being abused, they are most likely to be isolated from the outside world, like friends, neighbours, or even family members, so that they cannot get help. In addition, female are more vulnerable and potential to be the victim. (Abusers and Victims, n.d.) According to a research, females victims are 3 times more than male victims. Moreover, according to a research on the rate of elder abuse of different races, 145 per 1000 White older adults, 745 per 1000 Black older adults, 240 per 1000 America Indian older adults, and 132 per 1000 Asian older adults are likely to be victims of elder abuse. (Elder Victimization, n.d.) The victims are often found physically injured, emotionally distressed, sexually assaulted, financially exploited, or self-neglected. (Bonnie, Richard J, 2003)
